After passing this exam, the student must: 1. Present a general description and periodization of European and Russian romanticism. 2. Point out the features of the work of the first Russian romantics Zhukovsky and Bachushkov, who created the prerequisites for the appearance of Pushkin in Russian literature. 3. Explain why the appearance of Pushkin represents a turning point in Russian literature as a whole, along with the reception of Pushkins work by many subsequent Russian writers. 4. Explain the significance of the emergence of Lermontov as a romantic poet, who put an end to Russian romanticism as a comprehensive literary movement. 5. Learn a number of poems by Pushkin and Lermontov in Russian and present them at relevant cultural events.
